This DIY Flypaper Will Absolutely Solve Your Annoying Fly Issue

Flies can easily get into your home no matter how quickly you open and close doors. They especially love areas where there is food, like kitchens and anywhere you may have trash cans. Flypaper is one of the best ways to catch flies before they start buzzing all over your home, and luckily, you can make your own flypaper with ease using a few items you probably already have lying around!

Things Needed

  • Brown paper bag, (1)

  • String

  • Tape

  • 2/3 cup sugar

  • 2/3 cup light corn syrup

  • 2/3 cup water

Step 1

Start by cutting the bag into strips, 1 1/2 inches by 1 foot to 3 feet long.

Step 2

Cut 5- to 6-inch pieces of string, and secure them to the tops of the paper strips using tape.

Step 3

Make a sugar and syrup mixture. Combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water together in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and cook until the liquid thickens.

Step 4

Next, apply the sugar-syrup mixture to the paper strips. Use a silicone pastry brush to coat the strips with the liquid, and then hang the strips wherever flies are entering your home or congregating.

The flies will be able to find the tape because of the sweet smell, and they will stick to the tape because of the sticky syrup and sugar mixture.
