How To Remove Scuff Marks On Doors
Things Needed
-
Pencil eraser
-
White toothpaste
-
Soft cloth or paper towel
-
Foam cleaning eraser
Tip
Use a small amount of rubbing alcohol or WD-40 on especially stubborn scuff marks, but do so carefully as these could remove the paint from your door.
When dark-colored shoe soles come into contact with floors, walls and doors, they can leave unsightly black scuff marks behind. Instead of grabbing a paint can, try to remove the ugly scuffs from your white painted doors with common household items first. Work through the progressive methods to deal with progressively tough scuff stains. Regular cleaning can keep your doors scuff-free and alleviate stress when you hear your family's shoe-clad feet pattering about the house.
Step 1
Rub the scuff marks with a pencil eraser. Use a large hand-held pink eraser instead of the end of a pencil for larger scuffs. Erase the scuff marks gently until they disappear, then brush away the residual eraser dust. Use this method for light scuff marks.
Step 2
Squeeze some non-gel, old-fashioned white toothpaste onto a soft cleaning cloth and rub slightly darkeer scuffs out. Use a circular motion without pressing too hard to take advantage of the naturally mild abrasive in the toothpaste. Rub the scuff away, then rub the remainder of the toothpaste away with a clean cloth. Use a bit of water if needed.
Step 3
Clean more stubborn scuffs with a foam cleaning eraser designed to get rid of scratches and scuffs on surfaces. Wet the cleaning sponge and rub the scuff marks until they disappear.
