If your outdoor furniture is under various types of trees, you can end up with tree sap stains. These stains can make your outdoor furniture sticky to the touch, not to mention less attractive. Sap stains are difficult to remove if you use soap and water alone. Luckily, you can remove sap from outdoor fabrics using common, inexpensive products.
Step 1
Scrape off excess, hardened sap with a blunt knife.
Step 2
Wet a section of a rag with nail polish remover that contains acetone, which acts as a solvent.
Step 3
Dab the polish remover onto the stains until the sap softens.
Step 4
Wipe off the sap with a clean rag. Apply more polish remover if necessary and wipe again.
Step 5
Add 1 cup of dish soap to a gallon of water.
Step 6
Scrub the furniture with a nylon bristled scrub brush dipped in the soapy water. Rinse well and allow to air dry thoroughly.
