How To Restring Cellular Cordless Shades
Cellular cordless shades are safe to use in the home, especially when small children or pets are present. They're durable, easy to maintain and provide a fresh, refined look. Their functionality and energy efficiency make these shades popular choices for many people. Restringing cellular cordless shades may be necessary at some point. Knowing how to restring them can prevent frustration when it's time to do so.
Step 1
Remove your cellular cordless shade from the window and place it on a clean surface. Locate the end caps on the bottom rail of the shades and remove them. Remove one of the end caps from the top rail.
Step 2
Pull the cord lock firmly from the headrail to remove it. The cord lock is square-shaped and located on the top or the side of the headrail, depending on the manufacturer.
Step 3
Slide the bottom rail and the top rail sideways to expose the cords for your cellular cordless shades.
Step 4
Determine the appropriate length of the strings to be used. Use this formula to determine the amount of string that you need: "height x 2 + shade width + 12 inches." Measure the height of your window and multiply it by 2. Measure the width of the cordless shades and add 12 inches to it, then add both results together.
Step 5
Remove the string and use a threading needle to insert the new string. Place the washers from the old strings onto the ends of the new strings to secure them.
Step 6
Put the top rail and the bottom rail onto your cellular cordless shades. Push the string through the cord lock, then insert the cord lock back in place.
Step 7
Re-insert both the bottom end caps and the top end cap. Put your cellular cordless shades back in place.
