How To Clean A Hotpoint WD420 Filter
Dirty or clogged filters can put unnecessary strain on your washing machine and dryer and can negatively impact their overall performance. The Hotpoint WD420, or Aquarius, a combination washing machine and dryer sold in the United Kingdom, is no exception to this rule. The machine requires routine maintenance, such as cleaning filters and traps. On the WD420, that means cleaning the fluff unit on the dryer section of the machine and cleaning out the dispenser drawer filter grate.
Step 1
Unplug the machine from the wall socket. Pull it away from the wall so the back of the machine can be accessed. If necessary, have someone help you move it.
Step 2
Locate the fluff filter on the back of the machine. It is beneath the pipe on the lower-right side of the heater box.
Step 3
Pull out the filter and filter tray.
Step 4
Remove lint and debris from the filter by hand. Scrape out the debris with your fingernails. Run a vacuum cleaner hose attachment over the filter and the filter cavity area. Change the filter out completely if it is overly dirty. Order replacement filters through Hotpoint retailers or directly from Hotpoint.
Step 5
Pull the dispenser drawer on the top-left of the machine until it can open no more.
Step 6
Press the drawer release button down on the back left of the drawer hinge. Pull the drawer out and down to remove it completely from the machine.
Step 7
Rinse out the siphons, the filter grate, the dispenser drawer body and the fabric conditioner exit trench. Use an old toothbrush to scrub out of these areas. Rinse thoroughly and allow the piece to dry completely.
Step 8
Align the dispenser drawer and push it back until you hear it click into place.
