Farberware Programmable Pressure Cooker Instructions

Warning

Do not fill your cooker more than two-thirds full for most recipes. Only fill it half full for recipes containing mostly liquid or one-third full when cooking dry beans or other "foaming" foods.

Programmable pressure cookers take away a lot of the anxiety associated with using this type of cookware. The appliance automatically begins to count down when the correct pressure is reached. It also turns itself off when cooking is complete. As an additional bonus, the pressure cooker is much quieter than similar stovetop models. The Farberware Programmable Pressure Cooker also has the ability to brown or steam food. You also can program the appliance to delay cooking for up to two hours.

Pressure Cooking

Step 1

Plug your Farberware programmable Pressure Cooker into a grounded 120-volt outlet.

Step 2

Put the removable cooking pot into the pressure cooker so that the guide on the pot slides into the channel of the cooker.

Step 3

Choose "Pressure Mode: High."

Step 4

Press "Cook Time" for the desired cooking time.

Step 5

Pull apart the handles on the self-locking lid and place the lid onto the pressure cooker. Release the handles so that they grip the rim of the cooker.

Step 6

Slide the safety lock to the "Lock" position. Turn the pressure regulator knob to "Pressure."

Step 7

Press the "Start/Stop" button until the green indicator lights up. As pressure builds up inside the cooker, the pressure indicator rises. When full pressure is reached, the timer starts to count down. The cooker beeps three times when cooking is complete.

Step 8

Wait the amount of time indicated on your recipe for the pressure to release naturally, or press the "Quick Steam Release" button in short bursts until no more steam is released and the red indicator turns off.

Step 9

Unlock the lid by moving the safely lock to "Unlock." Remove the lid by pulling apart the lid handles. Lift the lid pointed away from your face, as the intense steam can burn you.

Step 5

Brown or sauté the food in small batches for best results.

Step 6

Step 5

Add the food, but do not add more than two-thirds of the cooker's capacity.
