How To Remove Scratches With Brasso

Brasso is a type of metal polish that cleans and polishes metal surfaces. When used properly, it is also safe to use on other surfaces, including CDs, glass and plastic. A small amount of the polish cleans the surface of the item and the product can even remove scratches. To remove those scratches, apply with a soft cloth.

Step 1

Remove any part of the object that comes off. For example, if you are removing scratches from a cell phone, take the case off the phone first and remove the battery.

Step 2

Pour the Brasso in a bowl and keep it nearby. Cover your workspace with a towel, to keep the Brasso from spilling and discoloring the counter or table.

Step 3

Dip the cloth into the Brasso and apply it directly to the scratch. Follow the line of the scratch, working back and forth across the scratch.

Step 4

Change your method of rubbing the scratch, varying between a back-and-forth motion and small circles. Working in just one direction can make the scratch look worse.

Step 5

Wipe the Brasso off with a fresh cloth and check the scratches. If they remain, apply more Brasso and keep polishing and rubbing the surface until the scratch disappears.
