How To Make Sugar Water For Wasps

When you are dealing with wasps, one solution that you might choose is a wasp trap. A wasp trap needs to be baited, and though there are recommendations for things like meat and fruit juice, one of the best things to fill wasp traps with is sugar water. Sugar water is easy to make and can be stored without refrigeration in your kitchen.

Step 1

Fill a pot with two and a half cups of water.

Step 2

Set the pot on the stove on medium heat.

Step 3

Pour four cups of sugar into the water slowly.

Step 4

Stir the solution with a wooden spoon until the sugar dissolves completely. This does not take long, and it does not matter if you overcook it. Overcooking will simply lead to your solution being more concentrated.

Step 5

Allow the sugar water to cool completely.

Step 6

Set the funnel into the mouth of your plastic bottle.

Step 7

Pour the cooled sugar water from the pot into the plastic bottle. Pour slowly and neatly because otherwise you will get sticky runners of sugar water down your bottle.

Step 8

Repeat steps six and seven until all of your sugar water is stored in plastic bottles.

Step 9

Cap the plastic bottles tightly.

Step 10

Damp a towel with clean water.

Step 11

Wipe the bottles down with your damped towel until they are clean.

Step 12

Store your bottles in a cool, dry place. Pour the sugar water into your wasp traps whenever they seem to be getting a little low.
