How To Remove Cat Odor From Vinyl Flooring
Things Needed
-
Paper towels
-
Vinegar
-
Baking soda
Cats are terrific companions. They're independent, affectionate and usually very clean. Unfortunately there are some cats that for whatever reason will occasionally miss the litter box and use the bathroom in an inappropriate place. The smell of cat urine is one that is extremely pungent and can linger for a very long time if not tended to. Getting rid of cat urine odor is an essential task not only for health reasons, but if the cat continues to smell its own urine, it may try to go in the same place twice.
Step 1
Clean up the urine, if it is fresh, with paper towels. Dispose of the paper towels immediately so you can get the smell out of the house.
Step 2
Pour white vinegar into a spray bottle and thoroughly saturate the area.
Step 3
Allow the vinegar to sit on the area for at least 10 minutes.
Step 4
Wipe the area with clean dampened paper towels. Use fresh paper towels to dry it.
Step 5
Sprinkle baking soda all over the area and allow it to sit for 10 to 15 minutes before either sweeping or vacuuming it up.
Tip
It helps to clean up cat urine as soon as possible. The longer it sits on an area the more damage it can potentially do. The commercial product Urine Gone works very well in eliminating cat urine and odors.
Warning
Do not use ammonia to clean up cat urine. It smells too much like cat urine and can encourage them to do it again.
