How To Make Your House Smell Good With Cinnamon Sticks

Things Needed

  • Small saucepan

  • Cinnamon sticks

  • Orange peels, lemon peels, cloves and apple wedges (optional)

Tip

Place powdered spices in a cheesecloth bag and then place it in boiling water to get the same effect.

Use an electric simmer pot instead, adding water and cinnamon sticks and plugging it in. Monitor the simmer pot while it is warm.

Whether you are trying to mask an unfortunate mistake in the kitchen or just trying to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in your home, the scent of cinnamon can be pleasant and homey. Make your house smell good with cinnamon sticks — not only are they inexpensive, but they work as effectively as a potpourri.

Step 1

Fill the saucepan approximately halfway with water.

Step 2

Add two or three cinnamon sticks to the saucepan. Push the cinnamon sticks under the water to submerge them completely.

Step 3

Add other ingredients, such as citrus peels, whole cloves and apple wedges, to the water to customize your aroma. These scents complement the cinnamon scent and produce a pleasing aroma.

Step 4

Set the saucepan on a burner and turn the burner to medium heat. When the water simmers, reduce the heat to medium-low.

Step 5

Monitor the simmering. When the water level goes down, add more water to keep it at the same level.

Step 6

Simmer the cinnamon sticks for four to six hours and then discard them.
