How To Troubleshoot Swiffer WetJet Problems

The Swiffer WetJet is a mop system with a two-nozzle sprayer, a cleaning pad and a scrub strip. The sprayer connects to a reservoir filled with cleaning solution. If problems occur with the spray system or the cleaning solution tank, you can troubleshoot to attempt to resolve the issue. It's possible to resolve many common issues with the Swiffer WetJet mopping system yourself.

Step 1

Vacuum or sweep to remove all large dust and dirt particles before using the Swiffer WetJet. Streaks can can arise when you don't use adequate cleaning solution. Use enough cleaning solution to sufficiently wet the entire area.

Step 2

Check the bottle to ensure it is fully inserted if the sprayer is not working. Insert the bottle completely and securely. Check that the batteries have been inserted properly. Replace old batteries with new batteries if the motor does not operate after checking the solution bottle and batteries.

Step 3

Check the position of the cleaning pad if it is not staying attached to the bottom of the device; it maybe have been installed upside down. Remove the pad and attach the printed side that says "Swiffer" directly to the Swiffer WetJet.

Step 4

Check the position of the cleaning solution bottle if cleaning solution is leaking from the Swiffer WetJet. Remove the cleaning solution bottle. Insert it completely and securely into the WetJet.

Step 5

Soak stains or spots that do not coming up after using the WetJet. Spray cleaning solution on the spots or stains. Allow the solution to remain on the area for five minutes. Replace the scrubbing strip if it is dirty. Scrub the area.
